Gold Gilded Table Top - Close-up

This sofa table is first painted black after which composition gold leaf is applied to the top of the table. The application of an acid solution follows, to slightly tarnish the leaf. The design is then drawn on the table and gilded with aluminum leaf. To finish, an oil-based paint glaze is applied over the entire surface.
