Antique Ivory

The background of this illusion is created by using a paint glaze (oil or water based) over a solid ground. The cracked top layer is achieved with a two step varnish product sometimes referred to as crackleure.The cracks do not appear until paint is rubbed over the surface and fills in the fissures with color.
